Indian TV shows, although massively criticised for it endless drama, has given its audience some of the most sought after dramas. One such show that set a landmark on Indian TV is the longest running show, Balika Vadhu. Launched in the year 2008, the show witnessed massive changes, new star-cast and surprising plot twists. (In a sensible way, of course!) But sadly, the fans now have a saddening piece of news...
As per the recent reports, your favourite show Balika Vadhu is gonna be taken off air soon. That’s right! The cast and the makers are gearing up to conclude the show which will air its last episode on the 31st of this month. Sigh!
As per a leading daily, the show will shoot its finale on the 22nd and then, it’s a wrap. According to the makers, the show has run its course and as a result, dragging it would make no sense. However, if rumours are to be believed, the low ratings are the major reason for the show being taken off-air.
Amongst the many changes the show witnessed over the years, it was the exit of veteran actress Surekha Sikri that resulted in the massive drop-down of TRP. In the hopes of luring the audience, the makers bought back the actress, but with a failed cause.
Mahhi Vij, who plays the protagonist Nandini, signed up for the show with high hopes. Unfortunately, a grand comeback turned out to be the biggest disappointment for her. Talking to a leading lady, this is what Mahi had to say...
"When the slot changed from 8 pm to 6:30 pm, I was quite disappointed. But you just have to work and not see the slot. The show was not promoted well with the new timings, and people didn't know about it... TRPs will drop! If your slot is shifted to 6:30 from 8 pm, of course the TRPs will drop.”
Well, be it the TRP drop or the story’s end, Balika Vadhu has reached its finale finally. It’s a wrap for the one show that was an instant hit with its socially conscious story and brilliant acting.
