After a successful run of three years, stand-up comedian-actor Kapil Sharma has decided to wind up the show. The last episode will be telecast on January 17.

It was apparently team Kapil's decision to end it as they were not happy with the stepmotherly treatment meted out to them by the channel. They felt that their show was being sidelined for the newly-launched Comedy Nights Bachao, which was being promoted more aggressively by the channel. Informs a source associated with Kapil's show, "We were told that the new show will be called Roast. However, it was titled Comedy Nights Bachao, which is often mistaken for Comedy Nights With Kapil.

The actor, for whom the show is close to his heart, says, "Yes, it's true. We told them we would go off air in December, but since they didn't have a replacement ready, they requested us to continue till January 17. We started on a good note and put in immense hard work to maintain the quality."

Differences between Kapil and Colors TV cropped up when he chose to be part of KBC episode last year. Relationship between the popular comedian and Colors are at an all time low and Kapil is surely wanting to associate with a new channel. Sources say that Kapil has been in talks with Star Plus too but it seems Sony TV is the one where he will be shifting his show on.

Added a source, "Kapil has a great association with Sony TV. Sony, is also at a stage to revamp its programming line and needs a comedy show desperately. So he might turn out to be the face of the channel." Though there is no confirmation yet, things will finalize soon.
