Vivek Dahiya, who is currently seen on the show Yeh Hai Mohabbatein is all set to play the lead role in a new series, Kawach. But the bigger and more exciting news is that he will be tying the knot with his co-star, Divyanka Tripathi, in July. Vivek and Divyanka got engaged in January this year and the wedding is over two cities; Bhopal and Chandigarh, their hometowns. In this exclusive chat, Vivek talks to us about his upcoming role, his wedding plans and of course, his fiancée, Divyanka.

What prompted you to sign up for Kawach?

After I bagged this role, I did a look test with my co-stars Mona Singh and Mahek Chahal. When I sat for the narration and then read the script, I had goosebumps. I always wanted to be part of a show based on supernatural powers, but I never thought that I would get one so soon in my career. It's a big deal to be a part of a show on Colors, especially when the show is being produced by Balaji Telefilms, through Ekta's vision. The challenge with this role is that I constantly switch between my conscious and subconscious mind, which you will see in the show.

Your wedding is scheduled to be held next month and you also got this new show scheduled. Isn't that cutting it too close?

Divyanka does not expect me to spend hours upon end with her. We both believe that even a few quality minutes can make things work. Our families will handle the wedding-related matters. The wedding ceremonies will be held in Bhopal and Chandigarh, so it's easy for them to look into the details and for us to concentrate on our respective careers here.

What kind of wedding does Divyanka want?

Divyanka wants a traditional wedding. So, we will take the baarat from Chandigarh to Bhopal. My happiness revolves around what Divyanka and my family wants. If they re happy, I'm happy. There is a Haryanvi saying, Kuch aesa kar de panditji ki yeh meri lugai ban jaye (Panditji, do something that'll make her my wife). So I just want Divyanka to be mine.

What are your wedding outfits like?

I'm wearing a sherwani from a Mumbai-based boutique called Tisa. All my outfits are from there. They are fantastic with their work. I loved every outfit and ended up choosing all my wedding outfits from Tisa. Divyanka has various designers working on her outfits, but nothing has been finalised.

Have you planned any surprises for Divyanka?

Yes, there is a surprise for my lady. The honeymoon is my surprise for her. It won't happen immediately. I am planning to take her to an undisclosed destination, after a few months.

Describe your love story in one sentence.

Two like-minded people who have come together willingly and who are willing to make it work for life.
