    Remembering Pratyusha Banerjee:The actress who won hearts as Anandi of 'Balika Vadhu'

    In a rather heartbreaking development, popular TV actress Pratyusha Banerjee who maintained a successful career, passed away today. The actress (24) had allegedly hung herself in her Mumbai residence on Friday morning, and was soon rushed to Kokilaben Hospital where she was admitted before breathed her last. As reports suggest, she was facing problems in her love life.

    The Jamshedpur-born actress followed on her early success with popular TV serial ‘Balika Vadhu’ as Anandi which managed to win applause with the social issues it raised and the awareness it created amongst the viewers.

    Such was the impact of her character that she soon being referred to as Anandi by the audience. In one of her early interviews, she had stated that the character Anandi was a lot like her.
    Set in rural Rajasthan, ‘Balika Vadhu’ gave viewers an insight into the difficult journey of Anandi who was married off at the tender age of eight. Besides getting used to new family of strangers, a young adult, Anandi (Pratyusha) also had to combat new challenges as she slogged to carve out her identity in the male-dominated world.
    After her successful stint as Anandi, Pratyusha was also seen as one of the strongest contestants on reality TV show ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5’. 

    Continuing with her contribution to reality TV, the actress also made it to the controversial and much-talked about TV show ‘Bigg Boss 7’.
    She has also signed as a host with reality-based crime saga Savdhaan India for the special part on ‘women against crime’ with Hiten Tejwani and Sushant Singh as co-hosts.
    The actress had worked in 'Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya' (TV series) in 2014 and was last seen in 'Hum Hain Na' as the main female lead.
    Not too long ago, she was also seen in ‘Power Couple’ with beau Rahul.
