Television actor Mahhi Vij says that actors need to be careful while making friends in the industry. She says that although friends can help you get through a tough time in your career, wrong company might make it worse.

“You have to be very selective about your friends. It’s true that you need a lot of support from the industry, but you need to choose your friends carefully as one can get carried away easily,” she says.
Talking about the sudden demise of her colleague Pratyusha Banerjee, who committed suicide on April 1, 2016, Mahhi says she dislikes it when people assume that Pratyusha was lonely.

"Actors are not lonely. I am not sure about what exactly she was going through. But I know that she was innocent and got swayed by the wrong people,” she says.
“I feel that no matter what you go through, you can always get up and move on. It’s important to understand this otherwise families from small towns will be scared to let their children join this profession,” she adds.

Mahhi, who has been acting for almost a decade, says that although she loves acting, the profession has its drawbacks. “It’s fun to be part of television and have people recognise you. But as a public figure, you don’t get privacy,” she says.

Recently, there were reports that Mahhi and her husband actor Jay Bhanushali were facing issues in their marriage. However, Mahhi says that speculations like these don’t bother her.

“I have stopped reacting to this. We are fine and are still romancing each other and going on holidays!” she says.
