The police on Saturday said they
have found nothing incriminating against Rahul Raj Singh, the former
boyfriend of TV actor Pratyusha Banerjee who committed suicide on
Friday. The 24-year-old actress, known for her role in the TV serial
'Balika Vadhu', was found hanging from the ceiling at her house on

“We have not found anything against Singh so far. We have recorded the statements of her parents and they have not leveled any allegations against him,” said an officer.
Even as Pratyusha’s friends claimed they had seen injury marks on Pratyusha’s face, Rahul’s family insisted he was innocent and the 'Balika Vadhu' actor took the drastic step due to “acute financial problems."
Shivani Singh, Rahul’s mother said, “Pratyusha was earning in crores in her television career but she still had little money with her. We had deposited cash time and again on her request in the bank account jointly held by Pratyusha and her mother."
Rahul’s father Harshwardhan Singh, a former private contractor, said, “My son was an emotional boy. The allegations against him are false. Everything was fine between them. Pratyusha had met all of us."
He added, “We had agreed to their marriage and it was scheduled to
take place last December. She even came to our home in Ranchi this year
to attend a family function.”
On Saturday, Pratyusha’s actor friend Kamya Punjabi said, “There were injury marks on her nose, under her eyes. We have taken pictures (as proof)... Police are probing the domestic violence angle. We will give our statement to the police.”
Her friends also denied reports that she had financial problems. “She was not facing any financial problem as alleged. She had never asked us for money. She had recently done a reality show,” Punjabi added.
Producer Vikas Gupta said he had offered a show to Pratyusha, but she was not keen to accept it because of the trouble in her personal life.
