I've got to admit that I HATE Indian television. Wait, before you judge me, let me explain. The shows that are currently on air easily qualify to be in the following categories: ‘regressive', ‘annoying' and ‘crappy'. I can't believe that our audiences are watching shows with plots that revolve around naagins and rebirths. It's 2016, folks! Have you been sleeping for a little too long? Even in 2016, shows with the theme of Naagins and rebirths top the TRP. I can't fathom the loss of intelligence of an entire TV-watching nation. But, I find solace in the fact that I am not the only one It's definitely not me though and I'm sure you aren't a fan on these shows too. But soon I figured that I am not the only one who hates Indian Television. There's an entire community to back me up.

Thanks to the internet, we now have a full range oof shows distilled for our healthy entertainment consumption. Yes, the change is happening. So if you are looking for respite like I did, then check out these web series that are sure to entertain you and delight you.

Permanent Roommates: This show, presented by The Viral Fever (TVF), is all about a young couple, Tanya and Mikesh, who are like chalk and cheese, but very much in love.  The best part about the show show? The chemistry between the two is so real that you'd think that you probably know a Tanya and Mikesh at your college or workplace or some social circle. Besides the couple, there's another reason to watch the show.  Purshotamji, a man with the most weird obsession and  whose girlfriend married his father and in his pining for unrequited love. He falls in love with his cab and names her Shabnam. The families of Tanya and Mikesh are just like yours and mine - crazy, fun and loving!

Man's World: Ever wondered how the world would look if it was not patriarchal but matriarchal? Man's World by Y- Films is all about just that. It's a show where gender roles are reversed. Peppered with a generous amount of humor, the show sheds some light on the prevailing patriarchal and sexist attitudes of our society. Karma is a bitch and that bitch bites the lead character of the show who is a complete male chauvinist pig. He believes that women have it easier than men, so when the roles are reversed, he bites into a big slice of reality. Hello, welcome to our world.

Alisha: When you hear the word "detective", you typically tend to think of a man in a black trench coat, wearing a hat, holding a magnifying glass. Uh... no, stop right there! We are not talking about Sherlock Holmes. We are talking about Alisha, a sleuth who loves her job. This is a fashion crime series by Blush- Culture Machine that breaks the stereotype of ‘only men can be good detectives.' The series is the perfect blend of fashion, drama and emotions, which you will want to watch after a long day at work, or just when you want to laze about on a weekend.
