Devoleena Bhattacharjee, who plays the role of Gopi Bahu in Star Plus' hit show Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, has expressed her desire to quit the show as she doesn't want to play a grandmother.
About four years ago, Devoleena replaced Gia Manek, as Gopi Bahu, who was shown the door overnight for participating in a dance reality show of a rival channel. Even though, Devoleena was initially not happy playing a mother to grown-up kids, she carried on with the show. However, this time the actress has decided to put her foot down.
Currently on the show, Gopi's daughter is shown to be expecting a baby, thus Devoleena will have to play a grandmother very soon.
The 25-year old actress says she will quit the show if another generation leap is introduced.

"Isn't it enough that a young woman like me is playing mother to such grown-up girls? I was patient so far. But I certainly won't be comfortable playing a grandmother. I will wait till the creative team takes a decision. If they take a leap, I will quit," she was quoted as saying by The Times Of India.
Saath Nibhaana Saathiya premiered on Star Plus on May 3, 2010 and has been the top TRP generating show of the channel. Despite running for 6 years, the show continues to be in the top 5 of Hindi fiction shows rating chart.
At the same time, the show is often slammed in the social media for its illogical and over dramatic scenes.
