1.Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu :
The love story of ‘Tragedy King’ Dilip Kumar and yesteryear ‘golden girl’ Saira Banu is no less than a film saga. Saira Banu had always been a big fan of Dilip Kumar, but the thought of marrying her favourite hero never occurred to her.

On the other hand, Saira too had many suitors, including the ‘Jubliee Kumar’ aka Rajendra Kumar. But, apparently, Saira’s mother rejected this proposal. Instead, she played the cupid between Saira and Dilip, and offered Saira’s hand to Dilip for marriage.
The couple got married in 1966 when Saira was just 22. Despite the age difference of 22 years, neither age nor time have affected Dilip and Saira's love and affection for each other.

Saira and Sahib’s eternal jodi (Saira fondly calls Dilip Kumar Sahib) will always be the most cherished one in Bollywood.

    2. Sunil Dutt and Nargis:
A romance that rose from ashes, literally! The ethereal beauty Nargis met Sunil Dutt on the sets of 'Do Bigha Zameen'. Dutt was an aspiring actor and Nargis was already an established star. Nargis was in a long relationship with the mercurial Raj Kapoor.

However, Raj Kapoor who was already married to Krishna, despite being in love with Nargis, never agreed to divorce his wife. Nargis was heart-broken. It was during the shooting of the 1957 classic 'Mother India', wherein Nargis’s life took a completely different turn.

During the shoot of a fire sequence, Nargis got trapped in fire. Sunil Dutt like a hero rushed and entered the fire to save Nargis. He saved Nargis’ life and in return won her heart forever. The two were badly injured and had marks on their bodies and Sunil’s condition became critical.
During that phase, Nargis was always by his side, caring and comforting him. Their first intimate rendezvous made them feel that they knew each other for ages. Writer, Kishwar Desai, quotes Nargis from her personal diary in her book Darlingji - The true love story of Nargis and Sunil Dutt, "If it were not for him, perhaps I would have ended my life before the 8th of March. For I alone know the turmoil that was going through me. 'I want you to live,' he said and I felt I had to live. Begin all over again."

For Sunil Dutt, "I found in her a human being and a woman who would take care of my family. I found in my wife both compassion and understanding.”

Once Nargis wrote to Sunil,“Darling, don't get angry, but remember even if I die, I will always be there with you spiritually. I am so much attached to you that even death can't take me away completely from you.”
Love is eternal and these real love stories of our favourite Bollywood couples certainly prove that.

The King Khan of Bollywood can set any heart on fire with his cute dimples and captivating looks. In real life, Shah Rukh Khan, is looked upon as one of the most doting husbands. He laid his eyes on a girl dancing on the floor and despite being shy in nature approached her for a dance. This was their first meeting. Soon, the two started dating each other but Shah Rukh was a possessive boyfriend. In an interview, Shah Rukh Khan said, "I don't know whether I am a nut but I am very intense about my love for Gauri. She's a part of me."

However, this possessiveness sometimes infuriated Gauri and she decided to give their relationship a break and left for Mumbai without telling him. Shah Rukh went to Mumbai in search of her and the moment the two met they hugged each other and started crying realizing their love for each other.

Later on, unlike his romantic on screen persona, Shah Rukh popped the proposal in an unusual manner. “I had a Fiat back then and I was dropping her home. That is when I asked her if she will marry me and went off, I didn't even wait for her to say 'yes' or 'no,” Shah Rukh revealed on a TV show.

Gauri obviously said yes, but since Gauri was a Hindu-Brahimn and Shah Rukh a Muslim, their union faced a lot of problems from Gauri’s side. In an interview, years later, this is what Gauri said about her parents' reaction, “Yes, my parents were obviously not for it because we were so young and then to take a decision to get married to a person who was going to join films and also from a different religion.”

But, love triumphs all, and after a lot of effort, Shah Rukh and Gauri got the blessings of Gauri’s parents too. Shah Rukh and Gauri dated for around five years before finally getting married on 25 October, 1991. Interestingly, their wedding was a Hindu ceremony.

After years of marriage their love for each other is still strong, SRK said on Koffee with Karan, "We have known each other for so long, we have surpassed a stage. One of the stages that we have passed is that we don't need to sit under a moonlit night. I think just passing each other across from the bedroom to the living room is romantic. Love is in the air. We have wonderful children who are a proof that we have a wild, loud, screaming romance going on in the house all day long."

    4.Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri:
The golden couple of Bollywood Jaya and Amitabh met at Pune Film Institute in early 1970s. After that brief stint, the two met on the sets of the film ‘Guddi’. In an interview Jaya once said,“I was introduced to him on the sets of Guddi. I was impressed by him and somewhat in awe as he was Harivanshrai Bachchan's son. I fell in love with him very soon.”
Their love blossomed when ‘Zanjeer’ became a massive hit. The team had planned that if the movie becomes a hit they will celebrate it in London. However, Amitabh's parents did not agree to the couple going abroad without getting married. Without further ado, Amitabh proposed Jaya and she agreed.

The duo got married on June 3, 1973, and left for London immediately to celebrate their union.
