In a bid to sensitise viewers, TV shows are now introducing tracks inspired by real-life incidents — honour killings, female infanticide, the Delhi gangrape case and violence against women.

Balika Vadhu: This show has been putting light on several social issues such as child marriage, widow re-marriage, domestic violence and girl education.
Kaali – Ek Punar Avatar: Loosely based on the Nitish Katara honour killing case, Kaali - Ek Punar Avatar was given a prestigious 8 pm slot. The show’s female protagonist is shown fighting for justice for her son.
Madhubala Ek Ishq Ek Junoon: The show deals with how a victim of domestic violence flees to prevent female infanticide of her daughter and shoots her husband (Antagonist).
Parvarish – Kuch Khatti Kuch Mithi: This show took inspiration from the Delhi gang rape case and aired an episode where a teenager saves herself from molestation and kidnap.
Qubool Hai: Barely months after Aamir Khan brought to light the Khap Panchayat’s brutal honour killings in a Rajasthan village in Satyamev Jayate, Qubool Hai addressed this issue in a dramatic manner
