I cannot believe that a star like Divyanka Tripathi can be so down to earth! - Ruchika Rajput

Having done episodic shows like Crime Patrol and Savdhaan India, the beautiful Ruchika Rajput was taken by surprise when she was called to essay the role of Mrs.Jhakar on Star Plus' most loved show, Ye Hai Mohabbatein.
Heres a dekho at conversation she was smitten into.

Yeh Hai Mohabbatein has been a good break for you...

Yes ofcourse. The primary reason I am saying this is because it is a Balaji Productions show. Secondly, it has managed to click with a wide range of audience. The character I played was very strong and I have got visibility through this show which in turn has got me more work in this industry.

What kind of roles do you enjoy doing?

I enjoy playing characters which are negative in nature. If given a chance, I really want to play a psychotic character. I have done several episodic shows such as Crime Patrol and Savdhaan India - India Fights Back. In real life, I am a bubbly person and by pulling off characters which portray extreme emotions clearly indicate that I am now settled as an actor. My dream is to make it big on the 70mm screen and work with talented actors like Randeep Hooda, Irrfan Khan, Manoj Bajpayee and Konkona Sen Sharma.

We believe you were a child artist. Please tell us about your first experience.

Yes, my first show was Sanjivani which I did at the age of 12. I could not understand the technicalities at that time and this is when my director Kaushik Ghatak guided me and gave me tips to enhance my expressions and acting abilities. Thanks to him, I have come a long way now.
My parents often tell me that I was born an actor and I firmly agree as acting has been my passion right from the time I was a child!

How was your experience shooting for YHM?

Absolutely wonderful! I have never met such grounded people in my life.

Specially Divyanka Tripathi who is a gem of a person... I cannot believe how such a popular star of a leading channel can be so down to earth. I was a nobody on the sets of Yeh Hai Mohabbatein but while shooting with Divyanka, she gave me a lot of respect and treated me like an actor and not like a newcomer.

We believe you prefer doing episodic shows over daily soaps. Why so?
Doing episodic shows is like adding more feathers of talent in your hat! When one does a daily soap, there are chances of the character getting typecast but episodics are like short films where one gets to don various shades. In the end I want to be recognized as an actor and not a star. I am not after fame. I want to do good work and prove my capabilities as an actor.
