TV soaps have celebrated the spirit of every relationship, including the most important one, friendship. On Friendship Day, we take you down the memory lane with these iconic buddies of the small screen…knock yourself out:
Nandini and Navya (Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan):
Have you heard of Aristotle’s famous quote, ‘a friend is a single soul dwelling in two bodies’? Well, this seems to perfectly describe Nandini (Niti Taylor) and Navya’s (Vibha Anand) friendship in Kaisi Yeh Yaarian. The two inseparable besties surely stand out when it’s so hard to find true friends in the telly world.
Khushi, Shruti and Sanjana (Koi Apna Sa):
One of the earliest shows to explore onscreen friendship, it wonderfully depicted the tale of three friends, married in the same household, to three cousin brothers. Their journey from best friends to sisters-in-law captured everyone’s attention. Though overly dramatic scenes somehow spoiled the spirit, Khusi (Manasi Salve), Shruti (Narayani Shastri), and Sanjana’s (Aparna Tilak) bonding didn’t let that show on the screen.
Rahul and Omi (Sanjivani):
Rahul (Mihir Mishra) and Omi (Sanjeet Bedi) were inseparable friends, where Omi never shied away from advising his pal. Unfortunately, their association was rather short-lived due to Omi’s untimely death. We miss Omi.
Armaan and Atul (Dill Mill Gayye):
Earning a degree in medicine is one of the toughest things in the world. And without an entertaining friend like Atul, it would have been impossible to achieve it! Armaan (Karan Singh Grover) and Atul (Pankit Thakker) were not only comrades-in-arm in the operation theater, but also on the basketball court
Swayam and Reyansh (Dil Dostii Dance):
Audiences’ favourite of this lot is definitely going to be the dynamic Jodi of Swayam (Shantanu Maheshwari) and Reyansh (Kunwar Amar) from D3. It will not be wrong if we say that these two were like brothers from different mothers. We are pretty sure that after watching them together, we have all secretly wished for a buddy like them!
Tanu and Sonia (Kabhi Sautan Kabhi Saheli):
We have heard of the saying that ‘life is an awful, ugly place to not have a best friend’. But what happens when your best friend turns into your worst enemy? Exactly what happened with Tanu (Anita Hasnandani) and Sonia (Urvashi Dholakia). The best buddies ended up marrying the same guy, falling into a ruckus of love, loyalty, jealousy and anger
Piya and Misha (Pyaar Kii Yeh Ek Kahaani):
Opposites truly attract. It's not applicable to lovers alone, as even in a friendship, opposite individuals make a great pair. Crazy, funky, and tom boyish Misha and kind-hearted, sweet, and gentle Piya were known for their legendary bond. Even the bitter past of the two being half-sisters could not ruin their relationship.
Ranveer and Aman (Remix):
Two cute guys of Maurya High, Ranveer (Karan Wahi) and Aman (Saurabh Raaj Jain), are still the heartthrobs of the small screen. They always stood beside each other like brothers. No wonder that Ranveer used to call Aman his bana (brother). Awww overdose, eh?
John and Cyrus (Hip Hip Hurray):
The cult classic series, Hip Hip Hurray can aptly be termed as the Indian counterpart of American series F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Though the story-line of both the series were hugely different, the underlying theme of friendship was definitely the same. Among the entire group, if someone’s friendship deserves a special mention, then it has to be John (Vishal Malhotra) and Cyrus’ (Sharokh Bharucha).
