Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa is one of the biggest platforms in the Indian Television Reality Space which has done wonders for many careers. There are many actors who have literally 'danced' their way into films. And why not when you have a panel of judges that has comprised of some of the biggest names in the industry like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Urmila Matondkar, Juhi Chawla, Shilpa Shetty, Madhuri Dixit, Karan Johar and now the latest being Shahid Kapoor.
Sushant Singh Rajput
Being backed by biggies like Yashraj Films and UTV, he has emerged as one of Bollywood's hottest property. He climbed the ladders of fame playing Manav in Ekta Kapoor's Pavitra Rishtain 2009, but it was Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa - 4 Dancing with the Stars, the ultimate trigger paving his way for films. Jhalak helped him come under the notice of the film fraternity. He finished up as the first runner up. Subsequently film offers started pouring in. However he didn't make sudden exit from Pavitra Rishta as most TV stars do for films. Since Ekta had planned a generation leap, Sushant and Ekta both mutually decided the exit. He went on to sign UTV's Kai Poche and the rest is history.
SIddharth Shukla
He was hugely appreciated from all quarters even without reaching the finals of Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa. The biggest benefit any Jhalak contestant has derived from Karan Johar has been Sidhharth Shukla. Karan Johar being very impressed with him offered him a three film deal with Dharma Productions. Although his debut movie Humpty Sharma ki Dulhania saw him playing a supporting role, he is being approached to play the lead by many producers. TV industry has also been praises for him for sticking to Balika Vadhu despite having a big launch. Recently it was reported that he is exiting from Balika Vadhu as the character of Shiv has nothing new to offer to him.
Karan Singh Grover:
His participation in Jhalak was one of the most discussed events and drew more eye balls as he got romantically involved with his choreographer Nicole Alvares. Nonetheless, he proved his mettle in the show and finished as second runner up. Jhalak opened up more opportunities. He enjoys a good fan base due to his popular shows like Dill Mil Gayye, Qubool Hai. He did receive compliments for his physique and has been also called the Salman Khan of TV. His film with Vikram Bhatt is still unreleased but he grabbed the chance to work with Bipasha Basuin Alone which released this year. He has also been signed for Hate story 3 alongside Sharman Joshi.
RIthvik Dhanjani:
Though the actor had been semi-popular due to Pavitra Rishta, it was Jhalak that really got him noticed. For the first time, people found out what a great dancer Rithvik is as the talented actor came in through the wild card round along with Karan Wahi in this season. Rithvik went on to then participate in Nach Baliye seeason 6 with girl friend Asha Negi and the duo brought the trophy home. Rithvik though has been anchoring a lot of shows on television, the actor is all set to make his Bollywood debut with XXX in which we hear the actor is playing the central character that links all the stories.
Loren Gotleib:
he American import was spotted by Remo who had first cast her in ABCD but it was through Jhalak that the dancer actually got recognition. Post Jhalak, Lauren has been flooded with film offers and in fact is doing films opposite many actors including Jackky Bhagnani. Gurmeet Chaudhary:
Redefining the angry young business tycoon in Indian TV with Geet Hui Sabse Parayi, Gurmeet Choudhary has come up a long way from playing lord Ram to debut in the sleeper hit Khamoshiyaan. Gurmeet had also participated in Nach Baliye with his wife Debina Bonnerjee Choudhary. While Participating in Jhalak he was flooded with praises from all judges particularly about how he was no less than a quintessential Bollywood hero. Winning the show reaffirmed his strong fan base. After his Zee TV show Punar Vivah, came to an end he decided not to take any more daily soaps but focus on films. As a part of the three film deal he signed withMukesh Bhatt, he has two more films left with them, and various other projects in the pipeline.
Prachi Desai:
No one had ever imagined that a TV bahu could be roped into play the lead opposite Farhan Akhtar for his debut movie Rock On'. Her fabulous dancing skills in Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa with her graceful expressions got her instant liking from the masses that left no stone unturned to vote for her in the show. Winning Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa was just the icing on the cake while her popularity already at the peak translated into flow of movie offers. She won accolades playing the docile and decent elder sister of two siblings in Kasamh Se until she left it to star in the blockbuster Rock on. She signed a couple of movies after winning Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa. Despite going through the usual highs and lows in her career she managed to star in prominent films like Once Upon a time in Mumbai, Bol Bachchan, Ek Villain.
