One 'CHARACTER' wonders of Indian television

I came, I saw, I conquered and then almost disappeared.
Well the first half of the proverb is definitely one popular Latin saying but the second half perfectly suits some of our television stars. Yes, they ‘came’ in the industry, they ‘saw’ people going gaga over their screen presence and they ‘conquered’ our heart. But, unfortunately even after one super successful outing in the telly world they could not continue with the taste of success and left us disappointed.
Some left the industry, some took a break and some continued to work but could not wave their magic wand once again and cast a spell on us.
Here’s presenting you with ‘one show wonders’ of Tellywood. Have a look…

Smriti Irani in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi
This one show has presented us with some brilliant actors in the industry and Smriti as Tulsi Virani is perhaps the most prominent among them. She held the numero uno position in her time along with Sakshi Tanwar. Though she could not manage to maintain her position on television, with her recent entry to the political domain as HRD minister she has proved that she was born to rule, be it small screen or our country!!!

Aamna Sharif in Kahiin To Hoga
Not only her on-screen name was Kashish (literally means charm), but she herself had that in her when she appeared in her debut venture. But, unfortunately after the show the lady remained in news more for her alleged affairs with her co-stars Rajeev Khandelwal and Aftab Shivdasani rather than her acting prowess.

Akashdeep Saigal in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi
There was a point of time for the fans of small screen when everyone loved to hate this man. Later on he tried his hands out in few films and shows, but none could beat the popularity of Ansh Gujral. Though the man did grab some eyeballs in Bigg Boss 5 for his antics, however it did not help him much to revive his career.

Parul Chauhan and Sara Khan in Bidaai
The duo debuted together with Bidaai and earned accolades for their performances in the role of Ragini and Sadhana respectively. Though Sara enjoyed her stint in the controversial reality show Bigg Boss 4, Parul had the same fate with Jhalak Dikhla Jaa 3. As Sara nowadays trying to charm audience with her Naagin dance, oopsNaagin act we mean; we don’t have any clue about Parul’s whereabouts.

    Chhavi Mittal in Tumhari Disha
She appeared in many Bollywood films as a cameo and did few shows, but the lady can only be remembered as Disha in the Zee TV show. Though she did an amazing job, the other actor, who truly impressed us, was Ashish Nayyar. As for Chhavi we really wonder where she is these days.

Mona Singh in Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin
Though Mona can hardly be called as one show wonder as she enjoyed her stint in Kyaa Hua Tera Vaada as well. But nothing could reach beyond the fame she achieved after Jassi. Though rumors have that she is all set to be back with a new venture, we only hope that soon we get the glimpse of her magic.

    Nausheen Ali Sardar in Kkusum
Nausheen essayed the titular role of Kkusum in Sony TV daily. Such was her popularity that TRP numbers fell drastically after she stepped out of the show. Later on Nausheen did two more shows, but unfortunately anyone can hardly recall the name

Kushal Tandon in Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai
Perhaps it is too early to term him as one show wonder, but his looooooong disappearance from the small screen has made him an easy entrant in our list. Though he was a part of Bigg Boss 7, his fellow contestants stole the lime light. Unfortunate isn’t it?

    Prachi Desai in Kasamh Se
Very few actors from the small screen have actually made it big in movies. And this pretty lady is surely one of them. Just two dailies older she debuted on big screen with Abhishek Kapoor’s Rock On. Though she really rocked it with her brilliant performance but we cannot find any possible reason for her withdrawal from television.

Tina Parekh in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii
Here comes another talented lady from the home production of Balaji Telefilms. After Kahani, she appeared in few shows, but all of them failed to recreate the magic of the character Shruti Agarwal. Though her on screen mother Sakshi Tanwar still manages to dominate the small screen, she almost disappeared from the industry. We hear that recently she did an episodic for Code Red.

Ratna Pathak Shah in Sarabhai VS Sarabhai

Sarabhai V/s Sarabhai's Most loved character "MOMMA" played by Ratna Pathak Shah is still afresh. Maya surely captured millions of hearts but after show was pulled off, Ratna pathak didn't return back to tele world though she was offered a numerous roles but none had the script that dynamic lady was looking for. She is curently involved in theatre and has been working hard with her group MOTLEY

Rupali Ganguly and Ratna Pathak Shah in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai
This inseparable on-screen in-law duo surely won our heart with their comic timing in the above mentioned show. Known faces in the theatre circuit, the duo had limited outing on small screen. Though Rupali made more appearances than her on-screen mummyji, none of those could outwit this one rib tickling comedy.

    Shweta Gulati in Remix
This girl has many shows in her kitty, but nothing could match her high school hottie avatar Tia Ahuja. Sexy, rich, spoilt Tia was a true head turner in Maurya High. Ten years have passed since the inception of the show Remix, but any true Gulati fan can only remember her as Tia Ahuja.
