Doing all domestic chores single-handedly in no mean task and any wife would agree to it. A survey reveals that 72% of Indian women want to only marry a man who will help with household chores. This throws light to the fact that equal allotment of household work is a nagging issue among married women. The survey also makes it clear that 76% of Indian women surveyed feel laundry is the easiest task a man can help with at home. Taking into account these staggering facts, Ariel India has kick-started ‘Share The Load’ movement by getting the men take charge of washing the laundry by way of ‘Wash Bucket Challenge’. The movement was the result of the debate titled ‘Is Laundry Only A Woman’s Job?’ that had Bollywood celebs like Shilpa Shetty, Neha Dhupia and Mandira Bedi questioning the unfair diktat imposed on women.
And now, celebrity pair – Gurmeet Choudhary & Debinaa Bonnerjee – too have joined in to support the cause.
At an event held in Mumbai lately, Debina shared, “I am delighted to join the ‘Share The Load’ movement and I truly believe that equality in household chores is key to a happy marriage. It comes as no surprise that more than 2/3rds of Indian women feel that men who do the laundry will make great husbands. I’m truly lucky in that sense that Gurmeet has always been very supportive when it comes to household chores. I’m proud that he is taking the ‘Wash Bucket Challenge’ today and getting men across the country to join in! After all, laundry is one of the easiest tasks a man can help with at home.
Adding to Debinaa, Bollywood’s new comer, actor Gurmeet Choudhary commented, “I have always made it a point to share the work load at home with Debinaa, and it’s something that’s been a part of our relationship right from the beginning. Today, 74% of Indian women want their boyfriends to commit to doing the laundry even before marriage itself, so it’s important that men start sharing the load! I’m glad to have partnered with Ariel India in their effort to encourage couples to join the movement. It is a common belief that laundry is a daunting task, however, 82% of Indian men feel a very good detergent can help them to do the laundry. Which is why, I’m taking Ariel’s ‘Wash Bucket Challenge’ here today, to get men across the country to pledge to ‘Share The Load.
